Phopshate-Sandoz is used to lower abnormally high levels of calcium in the blood (hypercalcaemia) which can occur in various conditions (such as hyperparathyroidism, cancers of the bone, and rickets.
Phosphate binds calcium in the gut. By doing so it prevents absorption of the calcium absorbed in the diet into the bloodstream. The tablets also contain sodium ions which aid the correction of the dehydration and sodium depletion that is seen in hypercalcaemia.
Phosphate-Sandoz may be taken with or without food and should be dissolved in half a glass of water.
Hypercalcaemia: up to 6 tablets dailyVitamin D resistant rickets: 4 to 6 tablets daily
Should have half the recommended adult dose for the condition
Common side effects
